How utilities in California announce planned outages

PG&E: how planned outages are announced

PG&E tells customers about maintenance outages directly on their account. It does not publish a county list. Possible Public Safety Power Shutoffs (wildfire risk) are posted on its PSPS updates page, where you can check your address.

SDG&E: how planned outages are announced

SDG&E shows planned outages on its outage map up to 72 hours before they start, and also sends notice by email or mail. Seeing your circuit on the map does not confirm you are affected: the 6-digit Plan Number in your notice is the most accurate way to check.
