How it is calculated
Seasonal power draw (kW) ≈ BTU per hour ÷ SEER2 ÷ 1,000. Energy = draw × hours × days. SEER2 is the efficiency rating on the yellow EnergyGuide label; 14.3+ is today’s minimum in the South.
Results are estimates for planning, not bills or professional advice. For generator hookups use a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
