Electric Water Heater Cost Calculator
Estimate the electricity an electric tank or heat-pump water heater uses each month.
How it is calculated
Heat needed (kWh/day) = gallons × 8.34 lb × temperature rise °F ÷ 3,412, divided by the heater’s efficiency (heat pumps move ~3× more heat than they use), plus standby losses.
Results are estimates for planning, not bills or professional advice. For generator hookups use a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician.
